Digital Doppleganagers final artist statement

anha7845

This project was my first time setting up a bot on social media or any bot in general. I found it was a very cool and unique experience. It was interesting to really get in the mindset of a completely fake persona and think of how that persona would perceive the world as well as interact with it. To delve into the mindset of how this persona would talk about certain things, what language they use, what their hobbies and interests are, etc. Originally I wanted to setup a twitter bot as I found the idea of putting a bot on twitter despite Elon trying to hard to get rid of them funny however the process of getting a bot up and running on twitter that doesn't immediately getting take down got the better of me and I ended up settling for making my bot for bluesky. I found settling for BlueSky however didn't negatively effect the outcome of my persona. Steve is still posting on Bluesky to this day and has gained a few more followers (all appear to be similar bots). Curious to see how steves following will grow overtime and if he will ever get followers that seem like actual people.

Below I included screenshots of the process of making Steve and some of the finished products.
